Hohem Launches Eyepic Gimbal With Detachable Camera Module

The company has introduced a two-in-one gimbal camera that comes with a detachable camera unit designed to be worn or mounted separately.

The removable camera can be worn around the neck or attached to a helmet, cap or other surfaces. It can also connect magnetically to metal surfaces, giving users more options while recording.

Shoots 4K Video at 60fps

The camera can record video in up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. When connected to the gimbal, it gets three-axis stabilization for smoother footage.

A 2.5-inch touchscreen on the gimbal allows users to switch between horizontal and vertical video without losing the full resolution through cropping. Hohem is positioning the device toward vloggers and creators who regularly produce content for social media.

The company has not yet revealed all of the camera’s specifications, but the package will include a hat clip and lanyard for carrying the detachable unit.

Built for Outdoor Recording

The camera is waterproof to a depth of 32.8 feet, while users can preview footage from as far as 33 feet away through the gimbal’s touchscreen.

Hohem is entering a market already dominated by products such as DJI’s Osmo Pocket and cameras from Insta360. Instead of competing directly on every feature, the company is taking a simpler approach with its removable camera design.

The device does not include built-in zoom or a second camera. Hohem also says it plans to price the product below existing gimbal cameras, although the company has yet to announce the final price.

The camera will also support slow-motion recording and native vertical video, features that could appeal to vloggers and creators focused on short-form content.
