Smart home company Shelly has entered the home security camera market with a new low-cost indoor camera designed for homes, offices and small businesses.
The Shelly Camera, unveiled around IFA 2026, costs about $50 and offers 1080p video, night vision, motion detection and two-way audio. It can also store recordings locally on a microSD card, allowing users to avoid a monthly cloud subscription for basic recording.
The camera can identify people, pets and vehicles using cloud-based AI features, while users can create specific motion zones and receive alerts with image previews.
Shelly is also offering privacy features such as blackout zones and a Privacy Mode. Users can choose between local storage and Shelly’s EU-based cloud service.
The camera connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and works with platforms including Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings and Home Assistant. It also supports local integrations and automation through RTSP, MQTT and WebSocket.
Shelly’s entry into security cameras expands its smart-home portfolio beyond energy monitoring and automation, giving the company another category for its growing ecosystem.
